As I said we are going to pray for peace. But you know, one can pray to God from anywhere. The location is unimportant to God who is everywhere in his creation. We are not going to a lost city, that has already been found, searching for God. We do not need a holy site to pray. But we do know that peacemaking is not an easy task. We have chosen to be climbers for peace. So yes, we are searching for a challenge. Not that one has to suffer in order for God to hear or answer prayers, but to remind ourselves that building a world of peace is a constant struggle.
We all struggled to reach the peak of Kilimanjaro. I know that for me at 70, it was only by the grace of God and with the help and encouragement our Tanzanian guides, our climbing team and of many of you reading this, that I reached the summit. Now at 80 and having been diagnosed with Parkinson’s, to travel from my home in central France through Paris, Madrid and Bogotá to El Mamey, the starting point of the trek, will not be without considerable effort.
So as you join us in prayer for a peaceful world, please pray also for these ambiguous climbers.
