Going Where ? – Climbing Together for Peace

So where are we going ? To celebrate ten years after our Kili climb the group chose the Lost City in Colombia (in Spanish: Ciudad Perdida) as our next climb for peace.

Well actually the Lost City isn’t lost anymore. It was lost until being “discovered” in 1972. It is perhaps the oldest settlement in the Americas. See: https://lostcitycolombia.com/history

It will be a 47-kilometer / 29-mile (round trip) jungle trek through the world’s second-largest biodiversity system, declared a Biosphere Reserve by the UNESCO in 1979. We will walk around 6 to 8 hour each day, averaging 12 kilometers (7 miles) per day.

Jungle temperature ? It will be the exact opposite of Kilimanjaro. Not minus 30° C but plus 30° C . And it will not be bug free. However it is not a steep climb, the Lost City is only 1,200 meters (3,937 ft.) above sea level. But still it will be a challenge, the only way of reaching the ancient settlement is through a 4 or 5 day trek, or by helicopter.
