Time to Pray

Climbing Together for Peace

As you should know by now, the motivation behind all this training and preparation is for us to make an even greater effort by climbing to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest mountain. And there to pray for world peace.

We have invited all of you, our friends, neighbors and coworkers. Our co-inhabitants of this world wide web and of the, not always so peaceful, geographic world in which we live, to join and accompany us on this trek.

You have probably seen our donation page and you may, or may not, have made a per foot pledge to a peace organization. Now we are asking for the real test of your commitment to our project.

Please pray with us for world peace.

That may sound to you like something great or something small. The wars and conflicts of this world are huge. The number of people wounded and suffering because of them is enormous. Where can just one person start?

Let us suggest the following prayer attributed to St Frances of Assisi.

Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace;

Where there is hatred, let me show love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is error, the truth;
Where there is doubt, the faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek

To be consoled, as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
