This Saturday, I thought it would be good to work on training for high altitude. I hiked up to Reddish Knob, the highest peak in the area.
I walked about two and a half miles up and two and a half back down. It was in the snow and ice and my boots were fine. No headache, no shortness of breath. I was feeling pretty good about my trek.
Then I looked at my GPS to check the altitude. 4,397 feet (1,340m).
That is not even as high as our starting point for Kilimanjaro!
