At the modern Olympic games the journey of the Olympic flame starts in Greece at the ancient site off Olympia and embodies the ideals of peace, among other things.
The flame has landed in Paris where another Journey for peace is also continuing.
A journey the may not end in gold metals, yet still will require great athletic effort.
A trek through jungle in Colombia to the top of Teyuna* the lost city in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.
A journey climbing for Peace that started 10 year ago with a climb of Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest mountain to pray for Peace.
For some the trek is starting in Paris where the Olympics are being held today staring with boarding a plane to Colombia.
Colombia is a place that looked very differently 10 years ago when the last climb was made, as in 2016 a peace accord ending a conflict of over 50 years was signed.
The peace agreement in Colombia is a seed for hope in the trek for peace and a great place for a new climb. Peace in this world still requires much prayer, this is one reason for the continued climb toward peace.
*Teyuna is believed to have been founded around 800 AD 650 years before Machu Picchu, a more know “lost city”
